In 2018, the City of Richmond, in collaboration with the National Zero Waste Council and Lafarge Canada, initiated a pilot to build market confidence in using recycled asphalt in paving and road applications. In November 2020, 800-metres of road was paved with asphalt containing 40% recycled asphalt pavement. The pilot and its success will be evaluated annually for performance.
