Malmö piloted a procurement approach to increase reuse and refurbishment of furniture. A framework contract was used in order to support more than one supplier and encourage a competitive market in furniture reuse and refurbishment. The framework included office, conference, and school furniture. The city estimates that buying reused will allow 20-30% in savings and that over time, quantities purchased using this framework will increase.
