The Swedish government’s ambition is to contribute to and support the efforts of the UN and international financial institutions in establishing the foundations for sustainable development via its own public procurements and promoting modern and sustainable development in partner countries. Another aim of the strategy is to make innovation procurement a natural part of organizational development at the contracting authorities. Recognizing the need for a strategic approach to public procurement in offering savings and benefitting society, the national strategy will promote innovation and be a catalyst for new ideas as a means to achieve national environmental, social sustainability, and administration policy objectives.
