The Government of PEI has adopted a climate change strategy that outlines goals, outcomes and actions the government will take to ensure a safe, prosperous and sustainable future. The adoption of an environmental procurement policy is one of the strategy’s actions. It gives preference to products that protect and improve public health and safety; reduce pollution; minimize waste; maximize the use of bio-based or recycled materials; conserve energy and water, and reduce the consumption or disposal of hazardous materials.
