The Dutch government generates 30,000 units of discarded data media IT equipment annually. Historically, this hardware has been shredded – for data protection, cost reduction, and environmental reasons – with the scrap sold on the open market. However, the government sought an alternative solution that involved the collection of hardware, re-use and re-sale.
