The Ministry of Defence purchases volumes of textiles to equip personnel with uniforms and other items and decided to explore the potential for increasing the circularity of its textiles sourcing by requiring producers to supply items made, in part, from recycled content. To meet the tender specifications, manufacturing companies were challenged to find and integrate recycled content into their production process resulting in a more circular approach to the textile collection and reuse, resulting in significant environmental savings of water use, CO2 emissions, and energy consumption.
