Case Study:

Recycled asphalt used for road resurfacing

City of Hamburg
Objective:
Recycled asphalt used for road resurfacing

After generating enough experience and assessing the performance of recycled asphalt pavement (RAP) in previous projects, The City of Hamburg wanted to move from using less than 50% RAP to 100% when refurbishing resurfacing roads. Therefore, this tender focused on refurbishing and resurfacing one of Hamburg’s main roads, demonstrating resource recovery and circular supplies business models. By reusing asphalt, the City of Hamburg reduced the environmental impacts (GHG’s and energy consumption) and saved 30% of the costs associated with conventional road resurfacing.
